KITCHEN ONE

This large kitchen, dining room boasts an island with a breakfast bar and a full length, built in banquette bench seat. The bench is a great opportunity to introduce colour and texture to the dining area and a large piece of art helps to tie in colours around the room. A contemporary dining table by Riva 1920 and dining chairs by Carl Hansen & Son help to modernise the space. The island has been painted in Farrow & Ball ‘Off Black’ and topped with a black Silestone worktop. It incorporates a dishwasher, integrated bin, Belfast sink and a black Quooker boiling water tap. On the reverse are shallow cupboards for additional storage. The bar stools have been upholstered in a neutral velvet with the exception of the back which have been upholstered in a fun and colourful print by No.9 Thompson; a striking fabric against the black island. To create a focal point, we built a false chimney breast which is a great way to zone the cooking space. This also provides the opportunity to incorporate worktop dressers where in this instance, oak shutters have been used to hide away small appliances. Behind the cooker we built a shelf for bottles and accessories to sit on and have clad the wall in the same marble as the surrounding worktops. Luxurious brushed brass handles from Armac Martin have been used which enhance the quality of this beautiful, hand made kitchen. The American fridge, freezer is surrounded by pantry cupboards which include built in oak trays. The wine rack above the fridge, freezer helps to utilise the space and adds interest. We specifically chose the rattan pendant lights over the island to give this kitchen a more relaxed feel and the choice of Farrow & Ball ‘Dead Salmon’ pink cabinets was to make the room feel fun and light hearted.
